General Directions for Use

The area of skin that is to be treaded is cleansed or pealed. Health Peat if spread on the skin as a layer of 1 to 2 mm and covered with a thin plastic to prevent drying. If the Health Peat dries, its treating effect lessens and cleansing after treatment becomes more difficult. Keeping the treated skin area is warm during the treatment helps bioactive substances penetrate through skin. The treatment can also be given cold or cool.

Liquid honey or coarse salt can be added to Health Peat. Honey makes the peat more gel-like. The glucose oxidase enzyme contained by  honey sets going H2O2 production, which has a skin cleansing effect. Coarse salt removes tissue fluid (osmosis phenomenon).

The treatment time is from 10 to 60 minutes, in some cases over night. After treatment the Health Peat is removed from the skin with warm water (without soap). The substances which have penetrated into pores continue the treatment for several hours after treatment. The treatment can be repeated 2–4 times per week.

Peat treatments are not recommended to pregnant women. Patients who suffer from bad open wounds, circulation- or hormonal disturbances must consult the peat treatment specialist prior treatment. Peat treatments are used only externally.

The treatment results mentioned in the product-specific instructions are obtained using Peat produced by Polar Health Ltd. The results are not transferable to peat products produced by other companies.

Peat Body Mask / Directions of Use

  1. Put a bag of Health Peat into water (max. 60oC) to warm up. 0.5 to 1 kg of Health Peat is needed to cover the whole body.
  2. Put the wanted amount of warm Health Peat in a bowl and if needed add a little warm water. Stir the water and Health Peat until it becomes easy to spread.
  3. Cleanse skin thoroughly prior to Peat Mask, so that the pores can efficiently receive the effects of Health Peat’s bioactive substances.
  4. Health Peat is usually spread when lying down. A layer of 1 to 2 mm of Health Peat is spread evenly on the skin, first to dorsal and then to frontal area. Face and hair can also be treated at the same time.
  5. The mask is covered with a thin plastic and a warming towel or blanket is placed on the person to cover the body. The sensation of warmth can be intensified with an external heater or by giving the treatment in sauna (mild temperature). The treatment time is 30 to 45 minutes.
  6. The mask is removed by rinsing with warm water (without soap). The bioactive substances from Health Peat which have penetrated in the pores are effective for several hours after treatment. Use a towel for drying the skin. Skin can be moisturized after treatment with neutral skin lotion or cream.

Effects

The Peat Body Mask helps the skin become soft and firm, it lessens the tightness of skin and leaves a refreshed sensation. The Peat Body Mask eases different kinds of skin problems, removes itchiness, equalizes the color of skin complexion, lessens allergic reactions, balances the functioning of the sebaceous glands and removes hormonal cellulite. Research and tests show that Health Peat does not create infections on cuts or on damaged skin.

The Peat Body Mask treatment can be repeated 1 to 3 times a week.

Facial Peat Mask / Directions For Use

  1. Put the needed amount (about 50 g) of Health Peat in a bowl and warm up the peat in a water bath at under 60°C.
  2. Add a little bit of warm water to the bowl. Stir until the peat and the water become gel-like substance easy to spread.
  3. Cleanse the skin carefully so that the pores can efficiently receive the effect created by bio-active substances from Health Peat. A pealing mask is recommended to be used prior to Facial Peat Mask.
  4. Spread the Facial Peat Mask with a spatula or a brush as an even layer of 1–2 mm on face and neck area.
  5. Cover the mask with a damp cloth or thin plastic, leaving the nose and mouth uncovered to assure free breathing. The mask is covered with a warm towel. The effect of warmth can be intensified for example with a steamer. The treatment time is 20–40 minutes.
  6. The mask is removed and the skin is cleansed with warm water with a sponge for example (without soap). The bioactive substances penetrated in the pores are effective for several hours after the treatment. The skin can be moisturized with a neutral lotion after the treatment.

Effects

The Facial Peat Mask has a positive effect on skin. It helps the skin become soft, elastic, moisturized, and it equalizes the functioning of the sebaceous glands. Facial Peat Mask does not cause allergic reactions. Due to a better blood circulation after the treatment the skin might be a little bit red. The treatment is especially good for people with greasy skin type. The mask eases rashes and treats different kinds of allergic skin reactions effectively.

The Facial Peat Mask treatment can be repeated once or twice a week.

Lasting results are obtained with a series of 5 to 10 treatments.

Peat Hair Mask / Directions of Use

  1. Put the needed amount (50–100 g) of Health Peat in a bowl and warm up the peat in a water bath at under 60ºC.
  2. Add a little bit of warm water in the bowl. Stir until the peat and the water become a gel-like substance easy to spread.
  3. Moisturize hair and scalp with water. Remove extra water from hair with a towel.
  4. Spread the warm Health Peat on hair and scalp with massaging movements.
  5. Cover the hair with a shower cap or plastic wrap and wrap a towel around the head. The warming effect can be intensified with a blow dryer. The treatment time is 20–40 minutes.
  6. The Hair Peat Mask is rinsed off with warm water. The effect of bioactive substances penetrated in the scalp pores and hair scales lasts for several hours after the treatment. You may use a neutral conditioner after the treatment if needed.

Effects

Hair Peat Mask reduces the hair scality, deepens the hair’s natural colour and makes hair livelier. The Hair Peat Mask eases rashes and allergic reactions of the scalp. The Hair Peat Mask is especially well suited for greasy hair.

The treatment can be repeated once or twice a week.

Long lasting results are achieved with 5–10 series of treatments.

Hand Peat Mask / Directions of Use

For equipment you need a large bowl or a basin placed on a table.

  1. Soak and wash hands thoroughly with Peat Soap. Peal of perform other skin treatments prior to Hand Peat Bath.
  2. Cut the corner of the Peat bag open (which is at room temperature) and spread the peat evenly on the hands (up to the elbows).
  3. Cover both hands with plastic bags. If the treatment is only up to wrists, disposable gloves can be used instead of plastic bags.
  4. Place the hands into a warm basin filled with water for 20 to 30 minutes. Move hands lightly during the bath. Instead of a water bath, hands can be covered with warm towels or mittens. In some cases this kind of treatment can last overnight.
  5. After the treatment, the plastic bags or gloves are removed and the hands are rinsed in the bowl or shower. Hands are dried and kept warm after the treatment.

The Hand Peat Treatment can also be given as a cool treatment. Patients suffering from wounds and circular disturbances must consult the Peat Treatment specialist before taking treatment.

Effects

The Hand Peat Mask softens the skin and increases the blood circulation of the hands as well as gives a refreshing and a warming sensation. The Hand Peat Treatment eases different kind of fungus-, rash- and allergic reactions. It reduces the itchiness due to skin dryness. It is well suited for care of atopic skin and reduces rheumatic symptoms.

Foot Peat Mask / Directions of Use

For equipments you need a foot bath basin or a 30 l plastic basin and two big plastic bags.

  1. Soak and wash the feet carefully with Peat Soap. Remove callosity from the feet and execute other wanted foot care procedures prior to the Foot Peat Treatment.
  2. Pour about 30 cm of water (38 to 42ºC) into a foot bath basin.
  3. Cut one corner off from a Peat bag (at room temperature) and spread the peat evenly on the foot and leg.
  4. Place both feet in individual plastic bags.
  5. Place the feet in the warm basin for 20–30 minutes. Move the feet lightly during the treatment. An alternative for the bath; the feet can be covered with long woolen socks. In some cases the treatment can last overnight.
  6. After the treatment, the plastic bags are removed and the feet can be rinsed with the water in the foot bath tub or in the shower. After rinsing, the feet are dried and kept warm.

The Foot Peat Treatment can also be given as a cool treatment.

Patients suffering from serious leg wounds and circular disturbances must consult the Peat Treatment Specialist before taking treatment.

Effects

The Foot Peat Treatment softens the skin and increases blood circulation of the feet as well as gives a refreshed and warming sensation.

The Peat Treatment eases different kinds of fungus, rash and allergic symptoms of the feet. It reduces the itch due to skin drying, removes pain from cracked heels and extinguishes possible bleedings. It eases effectively the symptoms of gout and other rheumatic diseases.

Sauna Peat / Directions of Use

  1. Warm up the peat in a water bath at below 60ºC. For a full-body Health Peat treatment in sauna you need 0.5 kg of Health Peat.
  2. Put the wanted amount of warm Health Peat into a bowl and if needed add a little warm water. Stir the water and Health Peat until it becomes easy to spread.
  3. Cleanse skin thoroughly prior to Peat Mask, so that the pores can efficiently receive the effects of Health Peat’s bioactive substances.
  4. The sauna benches are protected with plastic or plastic-coated fabric, because peat stains wood.
  5. Spread a layer of 1 to 2 mm of Health Peat evenly on the areas of skin you want to treat. Face and hair can also be treated at the same time.
  6. Then the patient stays in a mild sauna for 10 to 20 minutes. The air in the sauna should be moist enough for the peat on skin not to dry. If the patient goes to sauna several times, the peat mask will be spread before the last sauna session.
  7. The peat mask is rinsed off the skin and hair rinsed without soap or shampoo and dried normally with a towel. The treating substances penetrated in the pores will continue to act several hours after the treatment. After drying, the skin can be treated with a neutral body lotion if needed.

Effects

After the treatment, the skin feels soft, firm and refreshed. Health Peat helps to remove hormonal cellulite, eases rheumatic pain and many kinds of skin problems.

The Sauna Peat treatment can be repeated 1 to 2 times a week.
